Daniel Burnett, MD, MBA
Managing Partner
Dr. Burnett received his M.D. from Duke University and concurrently obtained an
M.B.A. from Duke's Fuqua School of Business. |

Dr. Burnett has a long history of biomedical device design and testing. During his
undergraduate career at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Burnett concentrated in Biomedical
Engineering with a cumulative GPA of 4.0/4.0 in his major. While
pursuing his undergraduate degree, he led a team that designed toys for
children with cerebral palsy and was subsequently awarded the Excellence
in Senior Design Award by the Department of Bioengineering. To
augment his academic experience, Dr.
Burnett spent a total of 10 months at
the Food and Drug Administration both testing devices and writing
congressional reports on the current state-of-the-art devices.
Dr. Burnett is the inventor of TheraNova’s patented LFIT™ system as well as multiple
other devices including a myringotomy tube insertion device (patent
pending), a non-invasive corneal sculpting device (patent pending) and a
peritoneovesicular pump (patent pending).
Dr. Burnett has finished his one-year
internship at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL and is currently a
licensed physician in the state of California. After working for
two years with MedVenture Associates, a medical device venture capital
firm in Emeryville, CA, Dr. Burnett resigned his role of Partner and has
committed himself to TheraNova, and its subsidiaries. |

Shane
Mangrum,
MD
Partner
Dr. Mangrum received his
training in medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine. |

Dr. Mangrum is highly involved in the improvement of function in people’s lives.
With the focus of his training in the specialty of Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation, Dr. Mangrum's areas of interest include chronic
pain, musculoskeletal and back pain, as well as sports medicine.
Prior to entering the field of medicine, Dr. Mangrum received his
undergraduate education at Harvard University, where he graduated with
honors with a degree in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology. Dr.
Mangrum has finished his internship training at the Mayo Clinic in
Jacksonville, FL and his residency training in the Department of
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Utah.
While Dr. Mangrum is currently in private practice in Idaho, he
also remains active in developing and advancing TheraNova's technologies.

Noel L. Johnson,
Ph.D.
Partner
Dr. Johnson
received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Virginia
and currently runs a TheraNova spin-off company based in Europe. |

Dr. Johnson
has extensive experience in designing medical devices and operating start-up
medical device companies. He
began his career with 13-year tenure at Abbott Laboratories where he and his
teams designed and developed pump technologies and implantable devices.
Dr Johnson earned a BS
degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of
California at Berkley and MS and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Engineering
from the University of Virginia.
During his graduate school years he developed a novel oxygen sensor
and did basic research to help understand the physiological processes
involved in the control of breathing.
Dr. Johnson
was co-founder and president of
HealtheTech, Inc., a
medical device company that he helped take public in 2002.
HealthTech developed a small device to measure a person’s metabolism
for use in management of ventilated patients and for consumers.
Dr. Johnson is currently
the President and CEO of NovaShunt AG, a TheraNova Spinoff Company based in
Zürich, Switzerland. NovaShunt
is developing an implantable pump to automatically remove excess fluid that
builds up in the body due to certain conditions such as congestive heart
failure and liver disease.
Dr. Johnson
has been involved in early stage work at several TheraNova companies since
2004. He joined TheraNova as a
Partner in 2006 and is now focused on building up TheraNova’s capabilities
within Europe. Dr. Johnson is
on the Board of Novalert, a TheraNova spin-off.
